Where Students Become Teachers.
Communities across the nation have been experiencing school shutdowns due to COVID-19. Studies of student absences, summer learning loss, and prolonged school closures suggest that losing time in school sets students back academically. Living Room Tutors is here to alleviate some of those negative ramifications of being away from the classroom.
Living Room Tutors is supporting communities in their efforts to mitigate the impact of school closures by facilitating the connections between volunteer student mentors and students who need support. We are a free web-based service that offers resources for students, families, and educators to improve the learning experience of K-12 Students. We seek to help students who have had their education suddenly interrupted and keep their academic achievement trajectories strong.
We believe in a world where every child can flourish in their academics despite difficult circumstances. Our mission is to first mitigate the impact of prolonged school closures during the COVID-19 Pandemic and to then continue to offer our services beyond these difficult times. Building a strong foundation in early childhood education is critical in order to empower the next generation of change-makers. LRT strives to accomplish this by creating educational support through peer tutoring and mentoring.
